This first saucering in the Soul Cafe Essentials series pairs the velvety soulful touches of Angie and Dennis, both edit-tracks stripping back the cords of each to produce a vocal-free velour. Angie's 'Wish I Didn't' is reborn as 'Wish (Instrumental)', while the same applies to 'Don't Look', becoming an atmospheric retread of vintage heartbreak funk. These versions pull the spotlight onto the arrangements themselves, with pocket basslines and tight, gratifyingly unhurried percussion.
