As the country’s largest independent record store, Sonic Boom Music is a much-loved staple of the music scene in Canada. Since 2001, when we first opened in Toronto’s Annex neighbourhood, we’ve been known for our impressive selection of hundreds of thousands of new and used records, CDs, and cassettes.

Though our address may have changed a few times, from our start in the Annex to the iconic Honest Ed’s building in 2011, to a small shop in colourful Kensington Market and now our stand-alone two level home in the heart of Chinatown, we have stayed true to our music loving spirit and old school charm that people have come to know and love.

Always wanting to share the love with our customers and community, Sonic Boom has hosted record-signings and in-store performances with memorable guests, including: Broken Social Scene, The Sadies, Angel Olsen, Superchunk, Mac Demarco, Ty Segall, METZ, Sloan, Inbreds, Steve Earle, Amy Mann, Slowdive, Fucked Up, Dandy Warhols, SUUNS, Alexisonfire, Sonic Boom, Robyn Hitchcock, Orville Peck, Courtney Barnett, Tinariwen, Dinosaur Jr., The Drums and many more. Since we debuted 19 years ago, we have expanded to not only carry the best in music and movies (with hundreds of newly received used titles put out daily), we now provide a selection of turntables, speakers, cool gifts and lifestyle/home products, band t-shirts and more, but this doesn’t mean our mandate is any different.

At Sonic Boom we strive to create an atmosphere of respect, where all are welcome, and no music lover leaves disappointed. We bring this sense of acceptance and respect from each of our homes, and are excited to bring these standards to our new space in the online world.
