Known for threading eastern and western folk motifs through cumbia pulse and earthen drone, he now places his own voice at the centre of the frame, no longer half-buried in the mix but weathered and present. 'Torpid' moves like humid air over sub-bass, slow and viscous. 'Low Country' folds reeds and echo into a murky pastoral sway. On 'Unkind', Kiki Hitomi's Osaka-honed incantation braids with Minnelli's phrasing, the Discomix stretching their exchange into a ritual spiral. 'Bed-Swap' closes in narcotic half-light. It feels intimate and quietly unmoored from genre.
